The Butcher's Daughter - Brunch in NYC

My first of many posts from New York, and what better way to kick them off than with a food review of none other than The Butcher's Daughter. You may have heard of them before with their popularity soaring over recent years, but if not, you should definitely pay them a visit.
The most insta-worthy brunch location I've ever had the pleasure of visiting...

Located in the Greenwich Village and Lower Manhattan area, you'll find the restaurant we visited on the corner of Kenmare St., only a short walk from the closest subway station.
The exterior is decorated in a minimalist style - white walls, slightly shabby wooden furniture, and an abundance of greenery.
Specialising in wholesome, vegetarian meals as well as being known for its acclaimed juice bar, The Butcher's Daughter is a healthy foodie's dream.
Hence why I dragged some of my initially reluctant friends along for brunch one morning during our trip.
As keen meat eaters, they were dubious at first. But the lack of meat was soon forgotten when our dishes arrived.
Much to our delight...
Drip coffee was on hand for the caffeine-fuelled of the group, whilst a couple of us went for the iced options.
The "Goddess of Green" smoothie, containing kale, cucumber, green apple, pineapple and thyme, was lovely and refreshing as a morning beverage.
And how adorable is the avocado straw? I need to find the stockist of these.
I opted for the "Iced Matcha Latte"; a great alternative to coffee in the morning which still gives you that slight burst of energy.
The cafe is perfectly located, right in the hustle and bustle of the city, making you feel like an original New Yorker.
Now onto the best bit. The food of course.
Smashed Avocado Toast. Perfectly toasted multigrain bread, generously spread with the most delicately spiced, delicious avocado I have genuinely ever tasted. Spiced with curry, mustard seeds and lime, each mouthful is a flavour sensation.
The addition of the sunny side up egg completes the dish, adding that bit of extra protein to kickstart your day.
The "Matcha Green Tea Pancakes" topped with a mixed berry compote and served with a side of whipped vanilla cream. Reportedly, fluffy, filling and delicately flavoured.
A great healthy alternative for the pancake lovers out there, but just as satisfying.
Arguably the best dish of the meal. The arrival of my Acai Bowl was accompanied by gasps and several flashes of the camera. Probably the most beautifully presented breakfast I've ever had the pleasure of eating.
Never having tried Acai before, this bowl did not disappoint. Light, flavoursome and abundantly topped with granola, fresh fruit, chia seeds and coconut shavings.

All in all, an ideal breakfast for a breezy Autumn morning in New York.
With full stomachs and a lengthy to-do list, we set off on our first day of exploring.
Just a few snippets of our wanderings around The Butcher's Daughter, which included the Supreme Court - very exciting for the history student amongst us!

The next New York post coming shortly!
